StayAltered Is One Of 10 Travel Startups Selected To Attend The 5th Annual Madeira Startup Retreat!

StayAltered will proudly represent its global community of inspiring, incredible and impactful hosts at the 5th annual Madeira Startup Retreat, an accelerator for travel startups created in partnership with Turismo de Portugal, Startup Madeira, and Nova School of Business and Economics. Of the 12 finalists, StayAltered is the only startup from the United States and one of two hospitality companies selected.

“StayAltered was founded on the idea of altering hospitality for good, and the Madeira Startup Retreat comes at the perfect time for us. We are ready to collaborate with the people of Madeira, the Azores, and Portugal – incredible destinations experiencing both the benefits and challenges of travel and tourism.” – Evan Tzeng, founder, StayAltered

The jury focused on startups directly addressing the challenges from the pandemic with sustainable and innovative solutions based on the principles of a circular economy, territorial and seasonal dispersion of demand, and other initiatives that offer improved opportunities for the industry. In addition to providing each startup with a €2,500 grant, the six-week accelerator includes conferences, workshops, mentorship, and networking with industry experts.

“In the midst of a global pandemic, rising social inequity, and climate change, people are demanding opportunities to meaningfully transform the way our world works. The Madeira Startup Retreat will help us understand how Altered can center our communities to lead and benefit from this transformation in hospitality, travel, and tourism.” – Cesia Kearns, advisor, StayAltered
