How I created a pay-it-forward pricing model for my guests.
Luca, the creator and host of OMHOM, passionately believes in the value of human connections and storytelling. His journey from sommelier to chef led him to fulfill his dream of opening his own small hotel, OMHOM, in 2018. With a strong commitment to genuine hospitality and responsible travel, Luca and his team go the extra mile to create a sense of home away from home for every guest. The retreat's nostalgic charm, adorned with details reflecting personal stories, offers an alternative experience, leaving guests with beautiful memories and a profound appreciation for authentic human relationships. OMHOM's unique pricing strategy, where guests pay according to their means, fosters economic transparency, responsibility, and fairness, embodying the essence of sincere and emotionally involving host-guest relationships.
What I love most about hosting is...
Meeting new people, share with them my place and my point of view on my little corner of the world. Hopefully giving them a safe and confortable place to stay during their travel.
My vision is to...
Trying to understand how to transform tourism into a more conscious and sustainable way of travelling.
A moment that altered my life to become a host was when...
I don't think I can identify a single moment or experience that changed my life enough to convince me to become a host. I would rather say that it was a journey.
I was lucky enough to travel a lot, first with my parents then with friends or alone. Traveling over the years, I have developed the conviction that in travelling, in encountering the "other", the "different" from oneself, one can find the way to overcome racism, the way to empathize with other peoples and cultures, accept them as similar and live with them.
We live in an increasingly polarized society, welcoming those who travel, making them feel at home even if they are far from home, making them feel safe and trying to show them a glimmer of my world, I think is a good way to learn to live with "others" " that is, with the myriad of individualities that form this large and colorful mosaic that we call humanity.
