Welcome to Switzerland's former 'toughest prison' which has now turned into a place of freedom, creativity, and social atmosphere, and above all into a place where travelers meet locals and experience a stay in a thriving community.

  • We run a hostel to connect people of all ages, cultures, and different backgrounds. During your stay at Bogentrakt, you will experience Chur, the capital of the canton Graubünden, the way locals do every day. A down-to-earth, culturally vibrant community in a small town surrounded by mountains and plenty of nature to discover.

  • At Bogentrakt we brought freedom back to a former closed off city prison and we will personally make sure to inspire global connection and cultural exchange by providing exceptional, affordable experiences within a unique historical landmark.

The Bogentrakt Team

Imagine a former prison transformed into a vibrant hub. That's Bogentrakt! Nestled within the Senhof in Chur's historic Old Town, Bogentrakt opened its doors in March 2023. Born from the vision of Marco, Sara, Benjamin, and Franziska, it provides affordable accommodation and a range of services that enhance the Chur experience.

  • After working in hostels in Switzerland and abroad for more than 10 years, the founder of Bogentrakt, Marco, decided he had enough knowledge packed into his backpack to open his own hostel. He joined forces with his girlfriend Sara and her brother Benjamin and his wife Franziska. Together they wanted to give something back to the place they grew up in and when the chance arrived to gather ideas on what to do with the old city prison in Chur, the took it and handed in their ideas to turn it into a cosmopolitan hostel and bring freedom back to this closed off space in the middle of the Old Town of the oldest town in Switzerland.

Bogentrakt is dedicated to preserving its historical significance while offering a high-quality, affordable accommodation in a welcoming environment. We empower our local staff to share their knowledge and passion, and continuously innovate to exceed guest expectations and contribute to the community.

  • At the Bogentrakt Hostel, you make a contribution to climate protection and we double it and invest it in sustainability measures in our company.
    Sometimes the only thing that helps is to do without, even for the guest: we don’t have daily room cleaning and therefore no daily change of linen.

  • The Bogentrakt Hostel is intended to connect travellers with the local population and become a place of exchange. To this end, meeting areas will be created that are open to hostel guests, our neighbours in the Sennhof and the people of Chur. These include the small courtyard behind the arched wing, our lounge, the workroom/co-working space as well as the guest kitchen and reception.

  • Chur is the oldest town in Switzerland and the pictures old town is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful old towns. It has been continuously restored over the last few decades and is now virtually traffic-free.Nestled between the old town and the vineyards, the new Sennhof building offers urban life and recreational space for young and old alike. The green and inviting inner courtyard invites you to linger and socialise. The restaurant/café on the ground floor, which faces the inviting inner courtyard, is the perfect place to meet, chat and enjoy time together.
