Lakeview Villa is a family-run homestay located in the serene atmosphere of the Bokar Monastery in a small hill town around a lake called Mirik in the Eastern Himalayas. Our home is a refuge to many guests (who have become our long-term friends) coming to understand Buddhist spirituality at the Monastery. The house is old but Mom has filled it with colourful flowers. It was built lovingly by my grandparents and we’ve displayed old collectibles and keepsakes from their adventures in this Indo-Nepal fringe in a common lounge. Mom is the chief host at Lakeview Villa and will lure you to extend your stay with her exceptional cooking skills.
As people poured in to explore their spiritual practice at Bokar Monastery, Ama and Buwa started hosting these faraway guests & named the home Rose Wood Cottage. Eventually, these guests became my parent’s friends and our home became a Homestay for wanderers.
Nestled amidst the serene hills of Darjeeling, Lakeview Villa in Mirik offers a tranquil escape for seekers of serenity. With breathtaking views of the tranquil lake and surrounding mountains, this villa provides a haven for those looking to reconnect with nature and rejuvenate their spirits. Guests can indulge in modern comforts while experiencing warm hospitality and authentic Nepali cuisine prepared with locally sourced vegetarian produce. Lakeview Villa’s commitment to sustainability is evident through waste segregation, composting, and a dedicated kitchen garden. Beyond its scenic beauty, the villa offers unique experiences such as vegetable picking, Nepali cooking lessons, and workshops on pickling, fermentation, and natural dyeing. With a rich history of hosting travelers drawn to the spiritual ambiance of Bokar Monastery, Lakeview Villa invites guests to immerse themselves in the culture and heritage of the Himalayas while fostering warm memories and nurturing connections with nature and community.
