An urban oasis that fosters connections between locals and travelers.

We have tied up with local tour operators and we organise weekly guided trips to Teotihuacan, as well as Teotihuacan balloon trips. We also organise market tours and walking tours around the Condesa. In terms of events, there is always something happening at Pancha, whether it’s yoga classes, cacao ceremonies, family dinners or fun workshops.

Philosophy

Casa Pancha is designed to be minimalist (a little Scandinavian) in design because we wanted to provide a respite for the senses too. We’ve also tried to incorporate elements of nature in our interiors. But mainly the areas are designed for people to come together and connect (as is evident in common spaces) while still enjoying their space in the pod style dorm beds.

A complimentary continental breakfast is included in every reservation, our ingredients are locally sourced, and even the bread is freshly baked by a local producer.

We host family dinners every week or there are weekly potlucks, where the Panchers do a little home cooking from their respective home countries. The ‘El balcón’ area is specifically designed for our guests. It’s a comfortable space where one can work, drink a cup of coffee and read a good book or simply connect with other travellers. It’s the perfect spot to play board games, watch movies or relax after a long day exploring this magical city.

The ‘El patio’ area is designed to be an urban oasis where the merge between locals and travellers takes place. Each element has a story. Every object and piece of furniture is created by the minds and hands of Mexican artists. Guests can work, eat or hangout in this area.

History

I (Alexandra) started Casa Pancha with my sister, Franchesca.
I have always wanted to open a place to provide great experiences for travellers since I was a little girl. After going on the road for seven months to India and Nepal, and staying in hostels in Europe and Asia, I returned to Mexico and realized that the community spirit and thoughtful design that made hostels in other places feel so alive to me, were severely lacking in my home country of Mexico. Thus, the Casa Pancha project was born both of us worked together and opened the hostel in the heart of Mexico City in September 2019, with the goal to bring people together and provide unique experiences for all guests.

Mission & Vision

We try to hire as locally as possible. The staff is essential in our hostel and we believe that they need to be happy to be able to make our guests happy so that is always our first goal. That is why we aim to create an inclusive atmosphere amongst our staff; like a family. We always aim to hire mindfully and it is important for us to click before we hire them. Everything in our hostel is locally made; everything is made with Mexican hands. We try to be as sustainable as possible and encourage guests to do the same.

We use no plastic in the hostel, compost all our food waste, encourage local producers and produce and encourage our guests to embrace a more slow and sustainable form of travel.
Working with and supporting locals is a main value for us- from hiring local staff to having locally-made decor on our property. Tying up with local tour partners is important for us. We want to create a place for our guests to create unforgettable and timeless memories of Mexico City that are also putting as less pressure on the planet as possible. Mindfulness and cultivating a sense of consciousness are core Pancha values and we do that by creating an environment that fosters those values but also through hostel events.
