Muhaan | เคฎเฅเคนเคพ เคจ is the Nepali word meaning 'source'.
The ethos of Muhaan is reflected in its curiosity to trace, connect, and strengthen cultural roots of the people.
It is a collective of driven individuals from various backgrounds working to trigger the flow of sustainable economic opportunities in remote villages of the Eastern Himalayas. The immediate focus is developing conscious, experiential and educational tourism models with the active participation of the rural community.
Muhaan implements alternative modes of tourism with the holistic documentation of narratives of the landscape and its people. Muhaan hopes to facilitate waves of empathetic knowledge-sharing and collaborative intervention to improve rural livelihoods, preserve biodiversity & ensure the continuity of ancient traditions.
My vision is to...
Give you the opportunity to meet like-minded travelers, become part of local life, and to connect to Inle Lake, our culture, and our people.
What I love most about hosting is...
Meeting new people from around the world, exchanging music and ideas and new perspectives, and showing the world just how incredible our hospitality can be.
A moment that altered my life to become a host was when...
I was very fortunate to travel out of my country once. I stayed in a hostel because it was the only affordable option, but I fell in love with the atmosphere. I realized one day, my country could open up and travelers would come looking for hostels and not find any.
So I began working on Song of Travel โ an affordable hostel with a social atmosphere and a social mission. We opened in November 2015 โ the fourth hostel in our country, the first hostel in Inle Lake, and the first 100% locally-owned and 100% sustainably-operated hostel.
